A large and important George III wooden doll, English circa 1770, the painted gesso head with finely painted features, inserted black pupil-less eyes with typical dotted lashes and brows over a single stroke line, painted mouth, rouged cheeks and long brown wig, having a long neck to tapered torso and waist with rounded hips, painted chalk washed legs, jointed at hips and waist and cloth upper arms with carved lower arms and fork hands, wearing a cream silk gown with fitted bodice and tied to front, with silk detail to cuffs and shoulders, long skirt with bejewelled apron, underclothes, bonnet and leather lace-up ankle boots, (condition: good, small rub to nose), 27” (69cm) tall.
