Ahmed Urabi, or Orabi Pasha and known in English as Ahmed Ourabi. Fascinating visiting card " picked up by me in the tent he occupied at Tel-el-Kabir Sept. 13th 1882. " A highly important Egyptian Nationalist from humble beginnings he is believed to have occupied the office of Prime Minister during a revolt designed to safeguard a more open society and reduce the influence of foreigners. This led to conflict with the French and British, the Egyptian defeat at Tel El Kebir and Urabi's surrender. His card with his name in Arabic and printed "Ahmed Arabi" together with the description of its acquisition is in a contemporary frame with velvet surround. A fascinating piece of Egyptian history.
