Pair of Medals to the Royal Field Artillery for the 2nd Boer War, Queens South Africa Medal with clasps Cape Colony, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill and Belfast, “72637 DVR. H.C. KIRK, 85TH BTY, RFA”, Kings South Africa Medal with 2 clasps, “72637 DVR: H.C. KIRK R.F.A.” 18-year-old labourer, Henry Charles Kirk, originally from Islington London, attested for service in the Royal Artillery at Preston on 16th April 1889. He served in India for 5 years and 94 days and was transferred to the Army Reserve on 16th April 1896. Her was recalled to the colours on 4th December 1899 and served in South Africa for 2 years and 84 days before being discharged on 12th April 1902 having served a total of 12 years and 362 days. Henry Charles Kirk is confirmed on the rolls for both medals and all 5 clasps and is not entitled to any other medals. Categories: Medals
