A Great War Naval Long Service Medal Group of 4, HMS COLUMBINE, 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory medals, “346239 W.T.N. JAMES SHPT.2. R.N.”, Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct medal, GV 1st type, “346239 W.T.N. JAMES, SHIPT 1. H.M.S. COLUMBINE”. Group mounted as worn, some slight contact wear to service number on British War medal. William Thomas Nigel James was born in Portsmouth on 6th December 1888 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Shipwright in Portsmouth Shipyard on 10th July 1903. Awarded his Long Service medal in December 1921 he was pensioned off on 5th December 1928. He rejoined on 18th October 1939 serving through the Second World War until he was released on 20th November 1946 and would be entitled to additional medals for his service.
