British George V 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword Possibly Belonging to Temporary Captain Frederick Samuel Moult McKellen MC Northumberland Fusiliers, fine regulation pattern officers sword with guard having cipher of King George V. The inner guard is engraved ‘ E. M. McKELLEN’. Shargreen grip with wire binding. Original leather portepee attached. Housed in brown leather field service scabbard. Regulation blade etched with Royal Arms and cipher of George V. H Renton Brothers Ltd Sheffield makers mark to base of the blade. The blade measures 31 ¾ inches, overall 39 ½ inches. The Military Cross for Captain McKellen was granted in the Birthday Honours gazette in 1918. Categories: Swords & Dirks
