A Marine Society Reward of Merit Medal, reverse engraved, “JAMES FREDERICK PEERLESS, 20TH NOVEMBER 1902”. These medals were presented to former Warspite boys for 5 years exemplary service after they had left the ship and joined the Navy. James Frederick Peerless was born in Hastings in June 1881. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd class (service no. 189252) in June 1896 from T.S. Warspite. Qualified for his Long Service and Good Conduct medal in January 1914, he served for the whole of the First World War on H.M.S Indomitable being awarded a British War medal and Victory medal. Pensioned to shore as a Chief Petty Officer in February 1921.James Frederick Peerless died in 1942 in Gillingham, Kent Categories: Medals
